Rabbi Samuel K. Joseph, PhD is the Eleanor Sinsheimer Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of Jewish Education and Leadership Development at Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, where he taught in the rabbinical and education schools. His special interest is how Jewish institutions and organizations, from synagogues to national groups, can be most excellent as they seek to fulfill their mission and vision. Toward this end, Rabbi Joseph works with such groups throughout the world on issues such as best leadership and governance, leadership development, strategic planning, team building, consensus decision making and creating engaging organizations. In a career spanning 40 years, Rabbi Joseph has consulted with over 200 synagogues, their professional and lay leadership, throughout North America, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, and Asia. He founded the United Jewish Congregation of Hong Kong.

During his career, Rabbi Joseph was a long-time member of the Joint Commission on Rabbinical Placement (Central Conference of American Rabbis and the Union for Reform Judaism) and chaired the Rabbinical Mentoring Commission (HUC and CCAR) for twenty years. In 2017 he designed and taught a five part webinar for the Union for Reform Judaism on congregational governance.
